Sky in the Trees

Here is a recent picture of our local park by Jacob in acrylic paint. At his school, they have been looking at the work of various artists, including Picasso, Monet, Lowry and Van Gogh. They were also visited by an artist called Astrid who discussed the processes of compostion and technique. Then they were let loose with the paints! The results were displayed in a gallery opening night complete with wine and nibbles!
It was an excellent show, full of energy and commitment: you could tell that many of the children had put a lot of thought and care into their work. Jacob says he was inspired by Monet’s style and I think the consistent use of twisted daubs of paint gives his picture an Impressionist feel.
