Found this broken mirror on the way to work, took a photo with my phone and attempted to write about it. Somewhat overwhelmed by the metaphorical possibilities I didn’t get very far, so decided to enlist the help of my (nearly) 9-year-old son Jacob. He built up a list of words, images, and ideas. We set it down and chipped away at it. This haiku is the end result.

shattered sun-crystal,
sky-blue bouquet,
sitting in a woollen night.
